I reckon within 6 months this will be a buzzing little area. Why, because the new bar X:it has opened up. it is a gay bar and being the only one in the area I reckon it will be well utilised. Now I'm not trying to be stereotypical here but generally gay bars play good music and attract a certain clientelle( and I don't mean that they are gay I mean they tend to be on average a bit better dressed and behaved)

Now we have mischief, city canteen, bute dock and also a new bar opening tonight on bute Street called Purple (Lounge), with the White Hart and the Point this part of the docks will have a group of public houses and bars to cater for all individuals, in a much better setting than MQ. If only they would open up the engine rooms again in Mounststuart Arcade.

anyway, the point of my post is why don't we do a little piece on the wiki about mountstuart square, but ratehr than writing from what we beleive, we actually undertake some market research :D

I'm proposing that octobers meeting is with the purpose of creatign a wiki piece about MSQ and as such, it is only fair we visit each and every hostelry

....erm you're obviously never been to the Golden Cross or the Kings Cross pubs in town then :) .

I shall check out x:it (is it really sensible to have two gay venues in Cardiff with the same name?) this weekend along with the Purple Lounge. I shall do my best to surreptitiously look as if I am taking notes for a review on an influential website in the vain hope of receiving freebies.

I'm also up for an old fashioned pub-crawl if a snowball of revellers develops. The only other free weekend dates good for me are Sep 20th, Oct 10th/11th (probably) and Oct 24th/25th.

I was thinking more along the lines of Manchesters Canal Street, which has some of the best bars and clubs in the city.

Sounds like a good idea Jantra - always wanted to try a few of the pubs and bars round there. Am on holiday from 10th to 18th October though so maybe the weekend of 24th/25th?

Count me in on that. The area is practically an unknown to me.
