I don't wish to make the news sound more dramatic than it actually is, but I noticed what could tentatively be described as the first signs of land clearance at 'Havannah Quay' today.
A solitary red digger was clearing away the growth and debris from the large empty site of the former demolished industrial riverside complex alongside Curran Embankment.
It's hardly a major on-site onslaught but it is nevertheless a start. I see no obvious reason why the digger would be there other than to start clearance for this project.
There are however no signs of any demolition activity on the rest of the site. The area in question would be suitably large for phase 1 of a multi-phased development.
I'll obviously update on any further developments because I walk through the area frequently on my way to work.

whereabouts is this? I had a wander down dumballs road and couldn't see anything? Having gone through Skyscraper city it appears that this is due to start anytime soon so perhaps you are right...which end are they developing first, the town end or bay end?

Might be there for some trial holes / soil testing etc. It would be a pleasant surprise if construction were to start now.

I have discovered that the 'land clearance' is actually so that a temporary public car park can be based there.
Jantra, the location is - drive down the (bad) road between Kwik Fit and the Big Yellow Storage Co. The site is on your right, alongside the river. There are currently car park signs adorning the fence.
